Get Hands Ahead At Impact – The Right Way To Do It

The video above shows in a live setting, how to get hands ahead at impact. As we talk about the upper body, this will all start to make sense. But it is so counterintuitive to everything that you think you should do in the swing. It makes more sense to try and get your chest on top of the ball and move your head and everything forward, but that just causes your arms to get out of position and lose all this leverage and so on. So it’s this, but it just doesn’t look like that. Okay.

Well, I’ve always wondered why. Like, when you look at the freeze frame of someone at impact, I never understood how they could get like that because I could never get like that. Yeah. You can’t do it without your right leg working correctly. It’s impossible. It’ll never, ever happen. So as you start getting, understanding how to get your. Because that’s. Everybody wants shaft lean and their hands ahead of the ball at impact. Right. That’s kind of the goal for every amateur golfer because that’s how you compress the ball and flight it and all of these things and get distance.

So everybody tries to move their hands in front of the ball. Yeah, me, right. My whole chest, everything. It’s like falling forward. Exactly. And so that’s the weakest way to hit the golf ball. Imagine. Imagine a simpler way to think about this. If you were gonna throw a club, like, you were just mad, you’re gonna, like, huck that thing, would you throw it like this or would you throw it like that? Just pretend that you’re gonna throw. Don’t throw it into the screen, but pretend. Just pretend. How would you do it?

Okay. Yeah. So you’re staying back. Am I okay? Yeah. See how your head’s going back if you watch all great. Really? Yeah. You found that that doesn’t do anything. Yeah, but that’s how you swing the golf club. That’s how most people do. And that’s the difference between pushing the club through with your body and snapping it. Yeah, exactly. There.

So what you’ve got to do when you, if you were to throw a club and you were to really throw it properly, you would never throw it like this. It would take a lot of physical effort to try and generate any force to push it through. Okay. But if you use your big muscles in your hip, my hip can snap. And that’s what I’m really trying to do is that whole squish the bug drill is how quickly I can do this, because the more quickly I can do this, the more my upper body is going to tilt back, the more I’m going to maintain leverage, the more I’m going to be able to throw faster with my wrists and get that clubhead to accelerate and whip. So you’re trying to generate speed.

Like if you’re, if you’re trying to push the club through, the club will always cast. Okay. Because you’re creating all this force in the opposite direction. The club’s going to counter. It’s going to go that way. Okay. So if you do this, the club’s way out here, and you lose all your angle and you have no shaft lean. Right. Now, what happens if I do this? Well, I have not lost any angle. I’m exaggerating, of course, but now if I do this, I’ve got all the leverage in the world, and that’s brought my hands forward. So to get your hands to go forward, your body’s got to feel like it goes back.
