Golf for Beginners – Golf Posture at Setup

As a beginning golfer, you may be confused by some of the conflicting golf tips out there on how to setup to the golf ball and posture. Well, make no mistake, posture is a black and white issue when it comes to the spine and your ability to rotate in the golf swing.

In this golf instruction video, we’re going to talk about how having bad posture will not only limit your ability to rotate in the backswing, but cost you power in your golf swing as well.

As you’ll see, the goal is to setup with your spine in neutral because it will give you about twice the rotational mobility than when you allow your shoulders to round and you bend from the waist as is so commonly taught. You never bend from the waist in a golf setup position, you will see that you want to hinge from the hips like discussed in this setup video.

Make sure you try the rotation drill in this video so you get a clear feeling of just how important it is to have your spine in neutral for rotational mobility!

Once you’ve watched this video, you’ll want to learn how to perfect all aspects of your golf setup. Check out our video 5 Minutes to the Perfect Golf Setup here!
