Golf for Beginners – Easy Ways to Correct Your Stance Width

Stance width, it’s an often discussed part of the golf swing fundamentals and a very confusing thing for beginners. As a beginning golfer, you should be focusing exclusively on the fundamentals of the golf swing and that’s exactly what RST is all about. But, how do you handle all the conflicting golf tips out there on how wide your stance should be?

Great question! To help you discern between good golf tips and bad ones, you have to use some logic. And logic is how every fundamental of RST is determined!

First, what are you trying to accomplish with your stance width? Well, there are two things:

  1. You need a stance wide enough that you have stability throughout the entire golf swing
  2. You need it narrow enough that you can shift your weight without your head moving too much

Those two simple statements formed the basis for my research into a proper stance width and that’s what you’ll learn in the video below:

As you saw in this golf instruction video, the final requirement is that you move safely. Golf is not a contact sport, you shouldn’t get injured playing golf! If you follow the RST fundamentals, you will be moving the safest way possible and put yourself at the lowest risk of injury because everything is designed around the concept of moving biomechanically efficiently and safely.

So, the last part of determining the correct golf stance width is finding out what YOUR perfect stance width is based on your build. To do that, check out this golf instruction video on determining your proper stance width.
