Should the lead arm be actively straightened in the swing (like a feeling of being at the top of a bench press) or should it feel relaxed? I have a tendency to chicken-wing in my swing, which I understand is by being too active with the arms and pushing with the trail arm, but I also have issues sometimes getting the clubhead to the ground. I feel my lead arm collapsing in my swing which would cause the clubhead to move more towards my body. I then would have to add more tilt to get the club to the ball. Thin shots have always been my miss. It's very natural for me to feel relaxed in the lead arm (trail arm too). People I have talked to say they don't actively have to think about keeping their lead arm straight, but my setup even has a slight bend/relaxed look to it.

Hello Colton. The lead arm will be governed by your trail arm. The straighter the trail stays the lead can't bend. There is some natural protraction of the shoulder (lead) at the top of the backswing. But, if your trail arm is staying straight and the core is directing the arms you shouldn't see much break down or have to forcibly try to keep it straight.
