Hi Craig I meant to say that I've also found the 3kg medicine ball to be a great training aid to engage the core on the backswing. I've also had a play with some resistance bands. The club is so light that it's easy to swing with all the wrong muscles, but with the weight or resistance there, you can really feel the core working, and for the first time I can reliably feel the ground forces. In the Throw the Clubhead Drill with the staggered stance Chuck talks about counter torque. He explained that trail foot goes back, while weight moves diagonally into lead foot as right arm throws. I never really felt that until I added resistance. The lead foot pushing forward and rear foot pushing back holds hips steady and provides something for the core to pull against in the downswing. When I manage to do it properly ball really flies. So then I wondered, is the opposite true? In the backswing, and keeping arms in front of hands, I find that if I push trail foot forward and lead foot backwards into the ground (while still moving weight back onto trail leg), then this provides the counter torque necessary to fully engage the core in the backswing. Doing it with the medicine ball means you can really feel the core and the legs and feet working together to deliver torque. Have I got this right? It feels like one way then the other with the feet, but if I manage to do it, then lead knee no longer collapses inwards, which is a good thing. I guess this is the feeling that will be built up gradually by the drills - getting the whole body to co-ordinate from the ground up. If you can point me towards any further explanation of this it would be helpful. Thanks Diane

Hello Diane. You can take a look at the Rotation and Footwork Drills or the How to Coil Video. Technically I get what you are saying and how it would allow you to rebound correctly. I need to do some testing though to see if it's a true opposite but with the weight I can see how you would come to this conclusion.
