Craig, I got to play several rounds in Scotland at the end of March.

Craig, I got to play several rounds in Scotland at the end of March. Fabulous experience, but I should have prepped by learning to play a sand wedge out of bunker with a riveted (sp?) face 5-6 feet high right in front of me (think Road Hole bunker, St. Andrews). I understand that hitting from the sand means hitting the sand (not the ball) with the flange that lifts it out of the sand. However, I had several occasions where I hit a good drive or iron into an (unseen) bunker, then wasted 2-3 shots trying to get out. I finally realized on one of my last such shots (of course) that I had been trying to hit it too hard, but any other thoughts about that kind of shot (other than coming out sideways, etc.). Thanks

Hello Matt. I haven't played there. Could you give me the consistency of the sand? Hard/compact or more fluffy?
