Just joined.

Hi, just joined. 67 years old and play well. I learned with a neutral grip years ago but never rotated my forearms….all body to get square. Instructors have pushed me to a stronger grip and I slowly revert to neutral. I tried the trail hand knuckle near the fingernail grip, with a couple of knuckles on the lead hand showing. This is very strong for me. My question is set-up. During address the toe is way closed. I think in gripping incorrectly. On my last swing today at 18 , I kept the club grounded so it would not close, took the goat code grip, kept it square and hit a great 7 iron onto the green. Is this sequence correct? I’m not convinced my one shot is an empirical study, but a strong grip at address goes against years of golf.

Hello Jim. The stronger grip shouldn't promote a closed toe at address. Sounds like you are changing the face with the grip. I like the idea of getting it square. Taking the GOAT Grip and leaving it in the square position. May have only been one shot, but that sounds more on par for me with your movement.
