The Groove
I am getting a lot out of this Goaty thing, but also need to connect with people who actually exist, like you and Chuck. .
Here is a new insight of mine that you guys might want to consider.
I actually think that I have mastered all the elements of the swing in each phase. What I cannot do is to put them all together in one piece.
Right now I am learning a new groove on the conga drum. There are 4 bars. To get the groove i learn the first 2. Then I put 1 and 2 together until I get it.
Then I do the same with 3 and 4 until I can play them together.
From here I go on to working on all 4 together. This is the groove. Its the same as the golf swing. Usually it takes a lot of repetition until I can do all 4 slowly together.
When I get this, I start to play them faster and faster until until its really fast.
Here is the thing. As fast as I play them together it is still not the Groove. The groove is something else. I cant get to the groove without being able to play all 4 very fast, but the groove itself is something different from playing all four bars fast. The groove is something that just happens.
This is how I am approaching my golf swing now.
What I am wondering is whether there could be an option with Goaty to practice all four of the moves in sequence slowly and see if I am getting into the right positions. Great work you are doing Craig and Chuck. .
You are solving an impossible problem. I sometimes wonder what might happen if you applied your genius to some of the other impossible problems in the world.
