Goat takeaway video

At around the 10:30 mark of the goat takeaway video Chuck talks about keeping the clubhead outside your hands. I am just wondering if the clubhead has to stay outside your hands all the way to the top of the backswing or simply until the end of the takeaway.

Good question, Kevin. The "clubhead outside your hands" cue is primarily a takeaway checkpoint—it helps you establish the correct path and sequencing early in the swing. Once you've nailed that initial move and the club is properly positioned at the end of the takeaway, the club will naturally work into the correct backswing plane and position at the top. You don't need to force it to stay outside your hands all the way up; the early foundation is what matters. If you're seeing the club get inside or laid off at the top, that's usually a sign the takeaway itself needs work, not necessarily the later backswing. Keep drilling that takeaway until it feels automatic, and the rest tends to follow.
