While working on the Axiom feel I have noticed that I can hit some of my best.

While working on the Axiom feel I have noticed that I can hit some of my best golf shots by eliminating my strong tendency to swing with my arms over the top and thus slicing. However, my ball striking has become more inconsistent and I have developed a nagging topping of the ball, mostly with my driver in which I almost drive the ball straight into the ground (divot in front of the tee). I feel it is due to an early extension and when I watched Chuck's video regarding Eliminating Early Extension, one cause of this is pushing off with the ball of my right foot. This seems at odds with the Axiom - am I over-emphasizing the merry-go-round feel?

Hello Price. You are pushing off the ball of the foot/toe towards the target and not towards the ball as described in that video. I would be willing to bet the top is coming from excessive secondary axis tilt raising the lead shoulder. Make sure your clockwise movement is shallowing the arms and you aren't aggressively changing shoulder plane and hanging upper half back.
