In a recent lesson the pro advised me to set up parallel to the target line, as usual, then the pull my trail foot back (not rotating it) by about 2 inches. I did this and found it has improved the quality and consistency of my ball striking. This advice does not seem to conform to the tips in the video, is that a concern? Was the tip perhaps to correct a fault intrinsic to my swing? Appreciate your insight, Gordon

Hello Gordon. The trail foot back is a drill/aid to help a player shallow out the club early in the downswing and to keep from over rotating too soon coming down causing steep/over the top. It eventually will wear off like a band aid. Lots of teachers have used this method to help keep early spin from dominating the transition.
