I am having trouble keeping my head still and maintaining the right hip line in.

I am having trouble keeping my head still and maintaining the right hip line in the backswing. I can keep the right hip line but with my head moving, or I can keep my head still but with my hip coming off the right hip line. What am I missing to do both simultaneously? Or, as someone post back surgery, if I can only do one which would be better/safer for my back? Thanks!

Hello David. The head can move slightly. It doesn't have to stay perfectly stagnant. Make sure you are allowing for the trail hip to rotate when loading. Some players don't allow for enough rotation and end up swaying or pushing from the lead side causing the head to move. If the head moves too much off the ball you may end up with excessive axis tilt and secondary axis tilt in the downswing causing an overly shallow plane. This may also lead to some back discomfort.
