If I am feeling a stretch/tensing in the hip flexor area in order to get good.

If I am feeling a stretch/tensing in the hip flexor area in order to get good spine an hip tilt am I overusing the quad in the backswing? Or is it fine to feel that I activate the whole right leg to coil in the backswing as long as I stay over the ancle? If I dont feel like I am stretching against the hip flexors i immediately start standing up and flattening the shoulders, so the quad are for sure engaged, should they be all turned off, or is that more an advice to someone who goes too much on the toes?

Players that tend to go too much towards their toes will get the quads overly engaged. However, the whole leg is working. The glute will be the primary load/engagement. But, quads, etc. will be secondary muscles to help with stability and tension.
