I’ve dedicated myself to the dead drill and now more recently the axiom over the past year and I’m having some troubles that I hope others can help with. I find that I’m always switching back and forth. One day I attempt to emulate Vijay, the next Rahm. I seem to gravitate toward a lead side with an interfering right hand. How have others dedicated themselves to one type of release? Other big issues are grip pressure and high vs low hands. Chuck states that your right hand should barely be on the club with the lead side method, but this feels incredibly awkward and feels like the club may fly out of the hand. How light should the right hand feel on the club with the lead side release? In terms of hands height, can a lead side release be done with low hands? Chuck’s turn seems to be higher with his lead side. Any comments would be much appreciated!

Hello Sean. Personally speaking I dedicated to lead side because I wanted more effortless control. Lead side tends to favor more consistency through physics and free release. But, you have to be patient and very trustworthy because you aren't the driver of the car. The trail hand will still be on the club to provide support and a passive conduit of power. It shouldn't be dead by any means, but enough pressure to aid (not steer). Lead release can be performed with shallower hands in the backswing. But, you may be limiting width/leverage from the extra radius and height. You can see from my image I don't get the hands high, but have a lot of width.
