How much sand should there be between my club face and the ball as I’m making contact?

How much sand should there be between my club face and the ball as I’m making contact? And, how deep should I be swinging the club through the sand?

Hello Andrew. This can all be relative to lie/conditions/shot requirements. When the sand is wet like concrete you will need to use the leading edge more to dig the ball out. Requiring less open face and some sand. Light and fluffy you may open the face more to glide through the sand entering a little earlier. The distance will help determine how much sand you need to take. Usually less sand for more carry. Not always the case however. The best way to learn is practice a stock shot, then start experimenting. Take a look at the box drill in How to a Hit Sand Shot Like a Pro Video.
