"The wrists play a very dynamic role in your golf swing.

"The wrists play a very dynamic role in your golf swing. In this video, I'll cover the terminology and functions of the wrists. I will also cover how to use the wrists in the most effective and efficient way possible." Chris Tyler Chris says the lead wrist flattens at the top of the backswing. Do you recommend the "lead thumb under the shaft", meaning the thumb in plane with the shaft to achieve a flat wrist at the top? If the thumb is to the side of the shaft, it seems to lead to cupping or bowing at the top. Thanks.

Hello Barry. The lead thumb will be supporting the club at the top. It won't be perfectly under the shaft if on plane. That would tend to cup the wrist (dependent on how strong the grip is). The trail wrist will begin to hinge at the top which allows the lead to be flat. The lead wrist will gradually lose cupping throughout the swing.
