In the midst of the Axiom bootcamp and loving it.

In the midst of the Axiom bootcamp and loving it. Also making me realize there are some small but nagging things I don't understand. Specifically, with a left arm dominant swing, the arms need to stay relaxed. But they also need to stay in front of the chest--which requires effort and tension. If I don't work to keep the right arm slightly externally rotated, shoulder blade retracted (as described in Five Minutes to a Perfect Backswing, I think), and mostly in front of my chest, well then my arms cross far past the center, past the right shoulder/logo, and the right elbow kinds of flairs. So how do I keep the arms relaxed and still in position in front?

Hi Amy, You will feel some small amounts of tension in the arm during the backswing. To keep the arms more in front in the backswing, you need to make sure you are gradually adding in shoulder elevation and some wrist set as you start the movement. Good simple little drill on the website called the 4 square drill. Check it out and see if that helps give you a little reference point drill rather than getting bogged down in mechanical thinking.
