A local pro told me that, at the top of the backswing, the club should be held.

A local pro told me that, at the top of the backswing, the club should be held in/rest on the forefinger and should "not" be resting in the "V" created by pinching the forefinger and thumb together. He indicated that any time the thumb is used for supporting the club, it will cause the club to roll. I've never heard of this and I would appreciate your views on it. Thanks.

Hello Roy. The lead thumb will aid in support of the club at the top. If you are resting in the "v", or the "v" is perpendicular to the ground the wrist would have to cup leading to an open face.
