I know I get confused easily.

I know I get confused easily. I just watched the Five Minutes To A Perfect Release. Got a lot out of it. But, doesn’t this notion of stopping the body’s rotation completely contradict the concept of opening the hips so that both cheeks are visible down the line? If I stop my body rotation and let the hands release at the ball, isn’t my hip line going to be pretty-much square to the target line? Sorry if I should have understood this move better (unfortunately, I will probably have a LOT of questions going forward!).

Hello Art. The hips accelerate to decelerate. You want both cheeks visible. But, when you post you actively the lead glute fires to post and stop. That way energy can be transferred. Take a look at How Swing Speed Affects Compression Video. Your hips need to clear to provide the space/speed/sequence.
