Chris, I understand everything you laid out as swing positives and faults.

Hey Chris, I understand everything you laid out as swing positives and faults or areas for improvement in my most recent review i.e., stop pre-loading my right side at address, strengthen left hand grip for lag, and get control of my tush line/early extension with chair drill. I have struggled with the latter two for a long time and as you noted in my review, “they will likely take some time to change”. Would you please respond to a couple of questions regarding these? 1) Of loosing the tush line versus a weak left hand causing loss of lag, which improvement will contribute the most to increasing distance 2). I don’t know how many thousands of reps over several years I’ve done with the chair drill, right heel down, right toe up, left toe up, visualizing tush moving back, hips not moving forward, right knee not jutting out or having less flexion, clam shell drill, etc., which all seem to help in practice but just never translate in playing. I think I do a decent job of pulling with my left side and I’ve really worked on getting my upper half moving in conjunction with my lower half in transition, left hip moving down and behind and left shoulder staying down in transition. However, with regards to controlling the tush line can you describe any specific muscle activation awareness, or sequencing I can focus on to improve the timing of my extension? Lastly, thank you very much for all you’ve helped me learn and accomplish over the many years of our partnership! Roger Dunning

Hi Roger, Lag and tush line are equally important but to quantify which one would give YOU more speed would be a little subjective from my end. If you are losing the tush line and leaving the arms back in behind the body, it can make it almost impossible for you to preserve lag. Check out the "which muscles to feel during golf swing transition" to help you with the muscles that you want engaged in this critical move. I think you will be able to make some good sized adjustments on the sooner side with your baseline movements being as good as they are. Always a pleasure to work with you Roger! Ct
