I have been a member since 2016 and have followed your training very closely. I can strike the ball reasonably well on the range, now the big However. Once I take my swing to the course I more often than not lose the swing with balls off to the right. It looks like more repetition is required ie 1000s of repeats in order to ingrain movements, which in effect means not playing golf for a while. Can this be right ? I just completed a round during which everything went wrong and scored gross 101. I came off with that I think I’ll take up scrabble feeling. I would welcome your thoughts.

Hey Michael, If I may chime in with a couple thoughts. Firstly, taking the range swing to the golf course can for most everyone be challenging as you add a “meaningful consequence” to your swings as you step on the 1st tee (ex) water left, trees and OB right you obviously don’t want either of those outcomes so tension often times creeps into the body and for the rest of the day we are worried about what we DONT want to happen. As a result, all of the work you’ve put in to getting the club in the correct positions seems futile and the idea of doing something other than golf creeps in. Good news, you’re not alone! Bowling would be my next endeavor haha! Secondly, try the AXIOM, take your focus and aim it directly at your right foot (if you’re a rightie) and feel the pressure navigate around that foot, in a clockwise motion. Refer to AXIOM videos. Under duress (on course) it will be easier to focus on 1 feel rather than fighting to hit positions. Flow in the swing will undoubtedly create better strikes.
Hey Micheal, I’m not an expert but I (and I’m sure, hundreds of thousands of amateur golfers!) relate to your question. I play only about once a month and get time to do the dead drills about twice a week at home (no time to go to a range) and used to play at about 20 handicap. But over the last year what has worked for me is that I now concentrate on swinging at the same tempo as when I practice and I’m striking the ball better consistently. That has helped me drop to around 12 now! No more trying to get distance but swinging smoothly (still goes as long! About 178 with a 7 iron at 54!). Hope this helps.
