Is it recommended that a weakened grip be used for chipping?

Is it recommended that a weakened grip be used for chipping? I find I tend to pull my chips if I don't weaken my grip. And is it correct that the clubface shouldn't roll open as in a full swing or a longish pitch due to the brief time needed to square the clubface? :thanks:

Hello Jim. You can still allow for face rotation which will help shallow out the strike. But, you are correct you don't need a lot of face rotation if you don't want it. Weakening the grip is a preference. Players with really strong grips may like this method to try and shy away from flipping.
