Craig, It’s been a while since I’ve been on here.

Hey Craig, It’s been a while since I’ve been on here. I took off the winter and had a true off-season for the first time in a few years. I’ve been grinding away with C4 and started off the season hot. I shot a 75 and a 76 to start. But then I came crashing back down to reality with a pair of 91’s. From years of swing reviews and feedback, I know my major fault is that I’m a shoulder spinner. I have two questions: 1. How do you play, but also prevent bad habits from coming back? My first two rounds I could feel myself releasing properly and keeping those shoulders nice and quiet. However, the more I play, the more those shoulders want to activate and start trying to take over. 2. Are there any specific drills I can do to work on this? I’ve seen the trail shoulder back video and a few others. I understand the concept of what I need to do, but is there an actual drill I can work on? I know I won’t come even close to my potential until I can get my shoulders to chill out and release the club properly. But when I do, it’s exciting how good I can be. In those two first rounds I only missed 2 fairways total and lost only 1 ball. Thanks!

Hello Brandon: 1. The more you play the more the old habits will try to jump in. You start swinging harder especially when you are coming off of a few solid rounds. If you know the tendencies you need to focus on at least one aspect while playing to implement the change. Come hell or high water you have to achieve the goal for the day in the swing. 2. 4 of 6 Play the Best Golf of Your Life in 6 Weeks is really good for shoulder spinning.
