Learn how three tiny changes can unleash 30+ more yards on your drives when you need it.

By this point in the Axiom program, you're probably starting to see just how consistent your swing can be. And you've also probably had a couple of those shots that you were like, whoa, okay. That's what hitting a ball properly is supposed to feel like hitting the ball powerfully long and straight as the secret sauce of Axiom. And as your confidence continues to build with the Axiom compression drill, you're going to start being able to turn that knob up to 11 on those holes where a little extra power will really pay big dividends in your score. So how do you take your newfound ability to compress the ball and get that extra distance out of it when it's needed? Where there are two key ways that I'm going to show you that can get you 20 or even 30% more club head speed with minimal effort.

The first one is simply a continuation of the compression drill. When you're doing the compression drill, you know, that you're stopping about lead arm parallel so that you can get the moves all sinked up and you don't have to get yourself all bound up and tight. You're just trying to feel the overall Axiom movement. So how do you get a little bit more out of that by simply continuing your rotation instead of stopping at a lead arm parallel, you just continue onto the top. You increase your turn, just a small amount. We're talking maybe 20%. And as you do that, as your arms continue to travel, pass parallel up to the top. As your wrists are soft, gravity will naturally let the clubs start to fall, which will also set your risks about 20% more. Those two simple things, continuing your turn and letting your wrist set a little bit more is how you get a ton more power.

And that's the power that you're trying to get on. What I call your stock full power shot, the stock, full power shot. What is that? That's what you're going to hit the vast majority of times on the course, you don't want to be swinging at a hundred percent every time I'm certain you've heard two or bros talk about, they feel like they're only swinging it 80%. Most of the time. Whereas most amateurs are swinging at a hundred percent and only getting 60% of the distance of the pros. I'm trying to show you how you can get the full distance of the pros by still only feeling like you're swinging at 80% effort. And by building on that compression drill by continuing on your rotation and letting your wrists set, that's going to get you to full power without you having to try and swing any harder.

If you're not doing the compression drill properly and not getting that almost full power lead arm parallel, you're probably doing something wrong. So make sure you check the faults and fixes or get a swing review so we can show you what's going on to speed up your progress. So now that you know how to get that full stock shot, let's really define what that is. Your full stock power, the shot speed, the swing speed that you can hit at least eight or nine shots. The same distance give or take five yards every single time, at least eight or nine out of the 10 times. If you're swinging your seven iron, let's say, and you're hitting it 150 yards, eight out of 10 times, but you try to go to 160 yards and you only hit it four out of 10 times. Well, that's a fool's errand.

Why would you try to hit at one 60 when you can only hit 40% of the shots you're trying to, but you can back it down just a little and hit it 80% of the time. That's the goal in golf. In fact, golf's a little bit weird. If you're honest, golf's about the only sport in the world where you try to get to it certain level and just maintain it. There's no point in hitting a perfect shot, perfect, or right. There's no word perfecter and there's no perfect or shot. Your goal is to get to a certain level and maintain Tane. Now, of course, as your mechanics improve and you get lessons and we hope you add more speed and distance through proper mechanics, rather than just swinging harder, those distances will improve. But as you're trying to score right now with this swing, you have using that compression drill, use that 80 or 90% rule.

If you can hit that shot the same distance, 80 or 90% of the time at your target with accuracy, that's your full stock power. And that should be when you go to parallel to the ground. And just a little bit further rotation, continue on just a little bit more. And again, it's only 20%. It's a tiny bit more, but that will get you a quite a bit more yardage. 20% on 150 yard shot is a long ways. You're going to get a lot more distance. All the distance you need for a full swing speed. With that being said, golf, isn't always played at 80 or 90%. There's times where to a hundred percent cranking that dial up to 11 pays off. Let me give you an example. The second hole at my home course is well over 600 yard par five, but the big problem on this par five is that there's a fairway bunker that you have to hit at about 310 yards Carrie, to get over it.

So this fairway bunker sits right in the middle and effectively makes the fairway less than half as wide because it splits it and takes up some of the yardage of the fairway. Now, if I hit it over the fairway, the fairway now becomes more than effectively, twice as wide for me. So I have a much wider range, but of course I have to carry it a long ways in order to take advantage of that, the reason this is worth it green. My second shot. If I have to hit a fairway wood into it, I can't hold the green. It's too firm. And it bounces right off the green. Even if I hit a perfect shot and ends up over the green and potentially out of bounds. So that's no good men. Of course, if I lay up shorter this bunker to take the bunker out of play off the tee, well, then I have to hit a layup shot anyway.

So it's worth the risk of trying to carry the bunker. And if I don't make it over the bunker and it ends up in it, well, I have to lay out. Anyway. If I tried to lay up short, shorter, the bunker I'm in the same boat. So it's worth it on these holes for me to step up and try to get full power and carry that bunker. So how do I get that extra 20 yards off the tee when I need it with Axiom? That's the magic of it. It's super simple. All I have to do speed up my pressure shift. I don't have to try and swing harder. Knots. The number one mistake I see amateurs make. They go to the top and they load up and they turn and their lower body actually becomes more quiet and rigid and stiff, which costs you power.

So you swing harder, but you hit it shorter, but you lose a ton of accuracy as well. The pros, when want to swing faster, they just speed up their weight shift. They speed up that pressure shift movement so that their whole body is moving faster. And then as a result, their arms and hands move faster, which then as a result makes the club move faster. I'm not trying to swing harder with my arms and hands when I'm swinging faster. I'm trying to speed up my whole body just a little bit. And what I'm really talking about here is about 5%. So think about how quickly you make your pressure shift right now. No big deal, right? However fast you make it. That's your natural rhythm and tempo. And you want to make a hit that extra distance. Don't get all tense and try to swing up harder with more muscular power, speed up your pressure shift.

What you want in the golf swing is not power per se. You want speed? That ball doesn't wave very much that club coming through the ball. If it's moving faster, the ball is going to go farther. You don't have to get all tight and tense, move your speed up your pressure shift and everything else will speed up, but stay in sync as a result, instead of getting all rigid and tight and trying to swing your arms faster, then you're completely out of sync. That costs you power. It costs you accuracy. That's the last thing you want to do. So let's look at the math on just speeding up our pressure shift. Just a tiny bit for the average tour pro their hips are only moving. Give or take eight to 12 miles an hour at peak speed. If you take that and you look at how fast the hands are moving in relationship to the hips, they're moving at about 18 miles an hour for a long hitter on the tour, but the club is moving at 120 miles an hour.

So in other words, the club is moving more than 10 times faster than the hips. So if I sped at my hips, just 5%, the end result is that the club is going to move faster, dramatically more it's exponentially faster. So a small increase in my hip speed. Give me a big increase, big return on my investment in my club. Head speed. That's the secret to it. When I swing harder, I'm not going to look dramatically different than when I swing normal, because I'm only talking about increasing my pressure shift by 5%. If that gives me five or 10% more club head speed at my club SB, which is in the one twenties, I'm talking about 20 or 30 yards, extra easy just by increasing my pressure shift by 5%. How cool is that? If I can just feel my hips moving a little faster, I get this clockwise motion of my air guitar and my merry-go-round going a little bit faster.

Everything speeds up, but I'm still in control. I'm still in sync. I still have rhythm and tempo and my brain is still focused on a feel. I don't have to think swing harder. I don't have to think about trying to time anything up. I just get everything moving a little bit faster around this pressure shift. And the magic happens at the end of the day. That's the alchemy of the Axiom one small little movement that has this incredible PA butterfly effect that gears everything together that ties everything together, get just everything moving together. And just by a slight increase down here, you get a massive increase of speed down here where it matters.

One of the things I want to make clear is that you don't have to swing hard to swing fast. So there's place a couple of times because the goal is to swing as easy as you can is in balance as you can and still hit the ball miles. So you can see that I don't look like I'm swinging very hard here. I'm certainly not, but this is me swinging effortlessly to get 121 mile an hour club head speed, which is actually below my normal average on the course. I tend to swing in the mid one twenties. The cool thing is you don't have to swing crazy hard. Somebody put it. Ah, I look like an LPGA two or swing. That's a compliment to me, the easier I swing, the more consistent I'm going to hit the ball. And I actually hit that ball a little off the toes. I didn't get very good ball speed there, but the point is you don't have to swing hard. You have to swing and sink. You have to swing smooth. You have to get everything working together, and then you can look like an LPGA player. Has someone put it in the YouTube comments. If you do that, if you use the Axiom movement and move your pressure shift just a little bit quicker, great things are going to happen. And you're going to produce tons of speed without having to try to do it.

Is pressure shift movement and weight shift the same thing? That is what we need to do faster to get more distance?

Yes. The movement of getting the weight back transferred correctly (but quickly) and posting to get those extra yards. Speeding up the pressure shift will help you gain yardage by relying more on the legs vs arms.
