I wanted to share my first major break through with others as I know how.

I wanted to share my first major break through with others as I know how frustrating improvement can be. I’m a pretty typical 20 handicap, over the top move, miss is wide right. I’m a range grinder hitting countless balls probably 5 times a week. Took some lessons, watched far too many youtube videos and then trying to implement those changes. My game was/is serviceable, and I enjoy playing still but I was just not getting the return on my time invested in improvement. I know how to get good at something and was putting in the time but I just wasn’t improving significantly at golf. I found rotary swing on youtube and had been following the youtube channel for a while it definitely resonated with me. 2 months ago I decided to pull the trigger and join. I decided I was all in, I was going to treat the site as absolute gospel and do everything required. No more lessons, no more random youtube videos and no pointless beating balls at the range. I started the C4 program and got a swing review. I’ve been following the program to the tee. I stopped going to the range or playing any golf knowing that I would likely have to grain a lot of changes. It was just me an indoor mat, divot board, 7 iron and foam golf balls. I reworked so many things, axis tilt at setup, I was pushing off the right foot, I didn’t even know the release was a thing, fixed ball position (thank you that one never made sense to me). I was presetting the club in my back swing and not just turning with my body. I’m now almost at the end of phase II and this week I started to watch all the phase III videos. Finally lag was explained to me, and the light bulb went on, I was the classic right side dominant, casting the club away weak swing speed even though I’m very fit. The down cock drill was the game changer, finally I understood what I was supposed to feel in the transition from backswing to downswing. How lag puts the club in the right position to effortless release it through the golf ball with speed and no effort. My arms have never been more noodle like, I’m barely holding on to the club and I’m swinging with no effort at all. I went to the range today after days of constant down cocking drills, if was glorious, the only swing thought I had was down cocking and I was doing ¾ swings everything finally came together. The temptation to grab driver was there but I had so much fun just hitting ¾ swing 7 irons I went through the whole bucket. I have a long way to go and I’m due for another swing review as I haven’t filmed my swing in probably a month now. Feel isn’t real and I’m sure my swing still looks shocking ???? but today was such pure enjoyment I had to share and hopefully it will inspire others to work from the ground up and not rush to the finish line. I know it’s only been 2 months but finally I see some light. Thanks Chuck.

Great post Simon and thank you for the notes about your swing jounrey. I will definitely use this for other students to help them stay in the right frame of mind while making a swing change :flagpin: :golfer:
