I struggle with arms getting trapped behind me and hip spinning.

Hi, I struggle with arms getting trapped behind me and hip spinning. I recently tried using feeling the hook part of the J-release more and leading to slight over-swing, and flying right elbow, and then throwing from the top, and it somehow cured my right foot lifting early and spinning out early in the downswing and felt like I could get into GDP easier with better ball-striking and timing contact better with more rhythm. Are you able to explain how this move is somehow preventing hip spinning and quietening my hips? I know I probably shouldn't continue down this path of a flying right elbow, but it's somehow curing my lower body hip spinning issues. Any thoughts?

Hello Liam. A flying right elbow will tend to lend itself to a bigger supination move of the trail arm in transition. Making the supination move is essentially putting the club in the slot to not require excessive body motion to try and set the downswing plane. Also, you are releasing it more efficiently it sounds like and the body has to stall better to allow the wrists to snap. If you don't stall/decel you can't J Release.
