Craig Great Webinar this week (#3), good advice on getting the little things right.

Hi Craig Great Webinar this week (#3), good advice on getting the little things right. At last I can chip fairly reliably, using the GOAT technique. Putting is still a bit of a work in progress, but when it works it's brilliant. With both of these I am focusing very much on just using my core to do the little backswings, letting the putter or wedge complete its way to the end under its own momentum, THEN using the core to drive the little downswing. If I do that properly it all works well and putting and chipshots both feel like a correctly timed mini-swing, with good ball contact. So is this the same for larger swings? Core drives club up, it continues to the top under its own momentum (with slight lift of the arms), then side bend+ supination etc brings it down (I think it is). As you know I've always been armsy, despite best efforts, and I think I overuse my arms, overswing etc, then find it difficult to initiate correct downswing, as club is not where it should be at the top and arms are loaded. Occasionally I get it right and get a glimpse of what could be  The whole core thing is where I now want to focus, but my long game is now 'between swings' and rather unreliable (tending to top the ball, very low ball flight, that said I'm getting more yardage with my driver most of the time, but it's unreliable). So for me I think I just need to stick with the program and build up the core engagement. One more question - back in 2021 I had some success with the DEAD drill, Step one, just the no-arms-shoulder turn. When I next used a club, it certainly went to the top using core, but I lose core connection in the full swing, and I still have to play through this season. So as well as the medicine ball, is it OK to use DEAD Drill step one (and maybe add a GOAT arm), to switch on core correctly plus lats and shoulder blade glide to warm up for a full swing. Obviously I don't take the medicine ball to the course! Thanks! Diane

Yes. All bout the core. There are some minor items that do help. But, the core rotation/engagement and some momentum work wonders in the swing. You don't need to work nearly as hard. Combining a little DEAD feeling at the course with GOAT Arm (if missing the med ball) is fine. Thanks for the compliments.
