In scrolling through Community I've seen references to Swing Analyzer software, which apparently does not exist any more.
I'm using freeware from Kinovea. It's a PC app only, no Mac or mobile versions. It's actually quite good for being free.
1. Typically I'll shoot video on my camera, and upload it to dropbox The software recognizes the video on your computer quickly and easily - it only takes about 30 seconds from when I finish shooting til the video is open on the software...great for just looking at reps just to see if I'm "getting it".
2. increase or decrease playback speed to as fast or slow as you want. It also offers frame by frame forward and backward movement.
3. Lots of drawing tools, lines, shapes, etc. Plus you can add text if you want to save the clip.
4. Side by side capabilities. You can sync the two videos - a little clunky if you're not familiar with video editing software (I'm not), but doable (I did). i use this for more thorough looks at my swing, e.g., comparing my current swing back to a swing from a previous lesson.
The Swing Catalyst software our instructors use is also available from Swing Catalyst, for $10 per month. I really don't see an advantage to it for individuals, other than replicating what our instructors do.
