Everyone at RSA.

Hi everyone at RSA... I have been on a bit of quest to hit the ball better, find more speed and hit straighter this fall and winter. I have taken my swing (which had been very flippy, lead hip flying forward, lots of casting and largely inconsistent) with the Axiom Quickstart to sharper ball impact, more clubhead speed, etc... I happen to have a local simulation spot where I have DTL and FO cameras, as well as many stats from the launch monitor, though I don't really know how to read much of them other than clubhead speed, ball speed, dynamic loft and launch angle. So far, in approximately 1 week of time using Axiom's golden grail movement, I find that I am very exaggerated at times and still feel like I'm chicken winging, flipping a bunch. I figure that most of the "movement" will come with practice, though I feel like I could benefit from a type of workout routine or regimen to go along with the wonderful videos there are. The largest problem I still feel I have is the chicken wing vs release. And I feel this is largely because I don't really know what "release" actually means and how to train for it. I have watched the Axiom release videos and don't quite grasp the release motion well... I am about to go back and start my swing reviews but wanted to see if anyone may have a helpful nugget that may unlock some part of my brain to release the club better (and find more speed)

Hi Victor Craig will put you on the right path. He emphasises the need to practice Axiom with one arm at a time. That alone has really helped me and I am now making solid progress. One arm means that you have to learn to use the lower body to drive the downswing, with both hands on the club it’s too easy for the arms to take over. You know you’re getting there when the club is shallowing and bottoming out consistently, and crucially that it feels ‘heavy’. The heaviness comes from the arm being passive, so the lower body is swinging the club and the arm. You will feel the release of the club as a sort of upward kick as it accelerates through the hitting area. Hope this helps.
Hello Victor. The release and chicken wing will be a biproduct of what transpires before the error. What happens in your swing is you tend to get into a reverse pivot and the arms get narrow at the top. Therefore, when you start coming down the club is steep and losing lag angle too quickly. This movement necessitates that you have to flip/chicken wing with the arms/wrists through impact. The first item of business is to tackle the body. Work on how you load and maintain axis tilt. Once, the body is corrected we can tackle the arms issue. Once, you start coming down on plane with lag the release will become much easier to perform.
