Tension in the golf swing is overwhelmingly my personal number one swing-killer. I am hopeful that there is something within the Axiom which helps reduce tension, though admittedly I haven't yet found that to be the case. Even when I put all of my focus into my right foot, my upper body and arms are loathe to relax and "let go." Is there a way to use the Axiom to reduce tension?

Best way is to keep isolating it to one arm and not worry about where the club is. Keep the wrist relaxed and let the club go where it wants to go based on the clockwise movements you are creating through the foot and hand. It may feel like less control to you BUT sound movements from the legs will move the club and arms into the correct position. Once you can keep the tension down with one hand on it, slowly work towards getting the other hand back on there and keep the commitment up!! Hope that helps.
Greg, Totally agree with Chris' reply. As an amateur and fellow RST member who just learned AXIOM, I also had similar upper body tension issues to overcome. In my opinion, any tension in the arms, hands. back or shoulders means you (like me) are trying to control the swing or hit the ball with your upper body instead of allowing the momentum of your body to do it for you which means we must be lifting your arms, hands and shoulders ACTIVELY. As you know, the AXIOM is all about dynamic flow and speed (quickness really) and to accomplish this it requires you to simply let the upper half be passive or simply LET GO TO GAIN CONTROL. To achieve this we have to let your shoulders, arms and hands totally go wherever they want and TRUST they will fall into the exact place they need to be with speed for massive power and simply focus on the foot movement. The best way I found to overcome this myself was to go to the relaxed extreme with the upper body. To accomplish this I would first setup up to the ball with a 7-iron and then I would just stop and become consciously aware of my shoulders and simply relax them by letting them shrug down then proceed to relax my arms and last my hands and finally even my back LAT muscles. Once fully relaxed I would begin the AXIOM by moving the foot pressure around the clock and let the extremely loose upper body, arms hands etc. do what ever they need to do. What you will find out is that the softer your hands, arms, back and shoulders are during the swing the faster and more powerful it becomes as you will shallow the club with massive lag and have the speed in your wrists to throw the club. The other video I needed to help RELEASE ALL tension was "Keep the Right Shoulder Back" (link below) to gain a TRUE understanding of how to actually release the club through the hitting area. By keeping the right shoulder back and allowing only the right arm and hand to apply pressure to the club after you post up will accelerate the club face through the hitting area and your wrists will turn over naturally. You will quickly learn that Tension can't replace SPEED! I hope this helps you like it did for me by combining these two moves together to get the MULTIPLIER effect to achieve solid BALL COMPRESSION and EFFORTLESS POWER!
