Should I hit the driver off the tee most of the time?

Hello Julie. I would recommend using a tee with a driver all the time. Take a look at Proper Tee Height Video to find out optimal position.

Chuck I am new to your site but have observed your teachings over the years on youtube, only recently pulling the trigger on subscription. I'm not a bad player (been as low as 6 hcp now playing off 11) but my biggest challenge in recent years is with driver accuracy and consistancy. Can you advise where your videos are on driver setup, width of stance, backswing, downswing etc or are you advocating that all these remain the same as for irons except for ball position? Keep up the excellent work! Ollie

Hello Ollie. Appreciate the pulling the trigger and opportunity to help. I would take a look at Proper Tee Height Video, Driver Launch Angle and Driver Setup Adjustments. The swing remains the same. Your goal is to adjust setup. Ball position, axis tilt, stance, tee height, etc. It will be explained in the videos I listed above.

Dear all, Please advice the best videos to fix the driver and 3wood shots - I can't find a proper one on your website... I still feel a huge difference when playing with those long clubs and have absolutely unpredictable impact..! You said that the swing is the same, but with irons i feel already much more confident - thanks to rotary system))

Hello Alexey. The swing is the same for all shots. The key is making the setup adjustments and allowing yourself to catch the ball at a different location in the swing. And, not trying to force the new location. Take a look at Proper Tee Height and How to Hit Fairway Woods Solid.

Ok I'm going to try some shot shaping to learn some control and consistency with my driver. As far as draw vs fade, is it just a matter of lining up the ball a little further towards the heel, or the toe of the club face at address (by standing a little closer or further from the ball)? Cheers!

Hello Mark. Yes. But, the difference really shouldn't be that noticeable. Also, you can combine the same principles for curving an iron. However, tougher to get the driver face to behave correctly due to the mass. Not that it isn't doable though with practice.

Dear Chuck, can you show us your driver swing in practice from the front and behind. I will compare it with my self-analyses. Really thanks in advance. By the way a great "amazing' ball striking videos. Hi Chuck, Is this not possible? I really like your swing and want to compare also with the driver. Thanks in advance, Marcel

This question has little to do with the main slant this video, but, rather a comment you made in the video. I'm a little hung up, I think, on distance. My friends, too. I just started playing two years ago and have always been a long hitter (when they actually go straight). For example, when I'm playing "well" my 7 irons go around 180 to 185 yards. But I know I'm over-swinging and as I'm getting a little more technically sound (I have a long way to go) I've noticed that they're only going around 160-ish. But straight. So anyway, you made a comment in this video about a 7-iron going 160 and a 6-iron going 170. My question is how far does your stock 7 and 6 irons go, Chuck?

Hello Jared. Chuck can hit his 7 iron tons of variable distances(0 - 200 yards). He has worked very hard on yardage control. I can't ask him right now due to the team having to evacuate Florida. But, from the years of me playing with him I believe his stock 7 is around 175.

Hi Chuck, First to compliment you on the quality of this video series. I gather from this video that the natural release of thje driver is more subtle than with the iron's and perhap's not as 'automatic' as with the more weighted head's and you suggest that the ball position on the face will give you the shape using a 'normal' swing. Since it does not happen automatically, do you have to make a conscious input with wrist rotation?

The opposite is true. Because the driver is swung on a flatter plane the toe wants to release more naturally, but it all balances out so no change is needed.

Hello Marcel. I will have to ask the team. Unfortunately, the team is evacuating Florida right now due to the Hurricane.
