Craig recaps his last session analyzing his swing before heading out to the range.
Hello everyone RST swing instructor Craig Morrow here and today what I want to do for my recap is I'm going to compare day four to a few of my other swings from my prior sessions because I've got enough practice reps under my belt by now we should be starting to see some progress and some differences and I think we're really gonna see some improvement with the swing on the right hand side of the screen day one on the left hand side of the screen day four on the right hand side of the screen and what I want you to notice as I work in transition all the way to impact you're starting to see that my lead side and lead leg are in a much safer and better position my ankle my knee my hip my shoulder are starting to get much more in alignment here you're going to also see that my trail foot I'm not pushing off of it as much now my weight still on the instep that's a very vital checkpoint is that the outer edge and that the weights on the instep of the trail foot you just can't really tell it from here and you'll be able to see it when I show you down the line but what I'm starting to notice is that this lead leg and lead hip are starting to work into a much better position into the strike now in my day four session there was a cue that popped in my head it's something that I tell students all the time and it's something that when you hear it you're gonna be like I've heard Chuck and Craig say that thousands of times how come that's not what you were trying earlier well as you know sometimes when you're working on your own game it kind of takes a second for your brain to click into gear and be like oh that's that's kind of what I'm missing so in day four you're gonna hear a cue that really started to make a difference in getting this better lead leg position and turning off a little bit too much of that push and what you'll also see is that with my finish I'm having even a much easier time than I did in prior sessions turning off those shoulders really having a nice buttoned up follow-through to hit these small little 10 15 yard shots if we zip over here and we take a look at the down -the-line version compared to the day before you remember what I was talking about was a little bit of that setup position and if we wind this back to right before I start going back you'll see that I've got that spacing between the back of my knee joint and my ankle joint and on the right hand side of the screen you'll see that I'm in a much better position ankle joint to back of knee joint I know it's still a little bit tough with the pants but this weight balance is much much better has changed just a little bit of my hip position and I'm really ready to kind of move correctly as I start to take my day four session back still got some rotation club working into the takeaway you'll still see my trail foot my trail foot's rolling onto the end step right there it's still coming up off the ground but look at my hips I'm really getting that to butt cheek look at impact right here I'm really starting to get just a few more degrees open right here and you're starting to see kind of the back of my lead leg right there the hips are just working just that tiniest bit better compared to the prior day and if we look at the left-hand side still have the hips just a little bit cleaner on this side and all of it was due to using my lead leg just a little bit better with kind of changing my thought process so the good news is I'm starting to see some differences you know getting the reps in my progress trackers going in the right direction and what I want you to do so I want you to stay tuned and check out my day four session so you can see what kind of cue I use to really start getting this lead leg better as now I feel a kind of gotten over a little bit of a hump or my lead leg was just being just the tiniest bit too lazy and I'm really getting into that position where I'm posted up where my hips can kind of decelerate and I can really focus on making sure I get that good impact position without feeling the need that I have to chase it
