In my Phase 2 Session 3 I am going to start out with the 3 most common faults I've seen in Live Lessons and Swing Reviews while working on Phase 2. See if you are making these mistakes and Learn How to Correct the Faults. Followed by another Practice Session dialing in my Phase 2 Components.

Hi Craig I’m a serial ‘drop kicker’ and found your number one comment very helpful and will definitely implement asap. Digressing somewhat can I mention the possible feel of dropping the trail shoulder in the downswing with a fairway wood. I’ve been topping these badly but with the trail shoulder coming down (possible feel) it has helped a lot for a better connection. Love the series and finding it very helpful. Thank you.

Hello Paul. Glad you are enjoying the series. The trail shoulder will work down, but most players force it down too soon and change the shoulder plane. Keeping the lead shoulder down a hair bit longer really helps with the fairway wood/top debacle.

Can we get a slow motion of one of your good swings at some point please Craig? Or some stills? Cheers

Hello Thomas. I have good swings? . Sure. I can try to add some slow motion or stills in the next film.

Hi Craig, By including AXIOM rotation movement, could this cause a bit too much hands/arms in the 9 to 3 drill at this stage, which might lead to losing some focus on the importance of core rotation? Regards, Arthur

Hello Arthur. In this small stage it may lead to some of those thoughts. However, I have seen a lot of players start driving too hard from the top and getting steep. So, a tiny movement of Axiom will allow them to start shallowing the club and retain better tempo into the release.

Craig: Really enjoying your videos ! Quick question. When you recommend moving the club counterclockwise in the 9-3,I tend to hit iron shots to the right or shanks. The club tends to be wide open. Any thoughts? Thanks! Greg L

Hello Greg. Glad you are enjoying the videos. You may be exaggerating it too much. The 9 to 3 is a smaller movement. You don't need a massive shallowing because the club won't have time to release. I would tone done the a little the clockwise movement and make sure you give enough time for the club to release.

Thanks Craig. It happens when I do the full iron swing as well. I feel when I rotate the club counterclockwise even a bit, it opens the club face. I shouldn’t have to manipulate the club face to get it to square at impact correct? Greg

hello Gregory. You shouldn't have to manipulate. The clockwise motion will shallow but as you start to post the club will rotate outer clockwise to square up and release. For the fuller swing I would use the Tour Pro Downswing Drill to get it releasing while posting vs staying underneath.

Craig, I am greatly enjoying the videos and your "jibber jabber". In this video, you are generally set up with one of the light poles running through your head. In your practice swings, it is easy to see your head move slightly off the pole (which I would expect). However, on your real swings, the head movement, if the head moves at all, is negligible. Why the difference from the practice motion? Just curious. Thanks much. David Jones

Hello David. Glad you are enjoying the jibber jabber . The practice swing I am not so focused on technique. A little bit of freedom there allows me to tone down tension and feel a freer movement without having to worry about the consequence of the strike.

Great progress there Craig. Do you have a rule of thumb when it comes to how far behind the ball you'll have your club at address? Looks like you have at least another ball width behind?

Thanks Simon! Ideally the club head would be right behind the ball. I am a little weird when it comes to this position. You don't want to place too far behind because you will have to make counter adjustments to the true ball position.

Craig, thanks for sharing the top faults. Are you seeing loss of secondary axis tilt? From a few self videos, my lead shoulder seems to be vertical and aligned at impact but no tilt. If so, what would be common causes? Thanks!

Hello Lee. I would check how much your head is moving and if you are driving from trail shoulder to start the downswing.
