Chuck, when you throw the club properly from the top is one hand dominant or are you throwing with both hands equally?

Chuck, Another great video! Here’s a question I’ve been noodling . How should I think about the throw from the top and then the hand rotation that is so prominent in the HackMotion data? Throw and then right away think rotate your hands—ala Rahmbo drill ( I believe you’ve said you really have to start far earlier than most amateurs think in order to have a proper release)? Thanks again for doing these groundbreaking experiments!

Hi Barbara, I think you are looking for the throw the clubhead drill. Search "throw" in the search box at the top.

Hey Chuck, This is finally starting to work for me after watching the final lesson you gave. In the lesson you mentioned as a quick next little tip that as you move that left shoulder down and the arms start to lift up on the backswing, once you get a bit passed the halfway point, you need to shift your weight back to the left side while the arms and shoulders keep rotating in the full backswing. I found that by doing this with the correct faster tempo the pros used, I experienced the feel of a lot more power and control in my swing as long as when my arms came thru the hitting zone, I stayed in my posture and let my arms and hands whip thru the hitting area with my head staying behind the ball until after I hit it! Is this the correct feel/motion?

Hi Marc, yes you should feel a dynamic stretch very similar to how you'd throw a ball with this pattern and your body should more stabilizing and making room for the arms rather than trying to rotate to generate power - which is where most lose their posture.

Hi Chuck. Does this arm movement you talk about is somehing similar with Justin Rose drill where he pulls his arms right down? I have been sruggling with over rotating my upper body in the downswing, which leads to an over the top movement, and this "feeling" helps me keep my back to the target longer as well as being able to be more aggressive with my right hand to throw the club. Thanks

I'm not familiar with that, but in a simple answer, when throwing with the right the upper body needs to basically not really rotate at all

That is exactly what I was being told during a recent golf tournament. I was driving the ball just as far, sometimes farther with better control, all with not feeling like I was actively rotating my upper body, just throwing the club. Note: I am two years removed from lower back surgery.
