I am hitting a lot of my iron shots off the toe of club. Any ideas on what may be causing this. I am not hooking the ball it's just weak shots right of toe

Hello Michael. You might be coming into the ball a little steep and across. Take a look at the Stop Coming Over the Top Video in the Downswing Section. Get that swing on plane!

I have ""developed""a frequent tendency to hit block shots with driver 90% of shots but less frequently with irons. The 10% of driver shots not blocked are almost perfect draws. I have never been a slicer bad shot have always been hooks and duck hooks Is the blocked shot due to sliding the hips rather than rotating ,coming too far inside on take away or both ? dhb

David, Without watching your swing, it sounds like, from your description, that your path has always been rather inside to out and now that you're learning how to square the club face, you're getting blocked shots that aren't slicing simply because you're squaring your club face to your path. So, if we get that path squared up and you continue to release the club the same way, you should be hitting solid golf shots. Check out these videos Trace the Plane Line 5 Minutes to the Perfect Downswing Sang Moon Bae Hips for Lag Impact alignment Face On and Down the Line These videos should help you get your plane squared up to alleviate your block/hook issues. If I lag the club head on the takeaway I feel like I create more lag on the downswing. I have heard Payne Stewart used this technique. The question is: Is this technique recommended by Rotary swing?

Craig (Certified RST Instructor)
Hello Erich. We tend to shy away from dragging the club back because it engages a push early. It can create lots of timing issues and doesn't really require any engagements of the big muscles.

Want to hit a draw without trying to swing inside out, which for me , a shank results on an occasion.

Craig (Certified RST Instructor)
Hello Larry. I see you posted this in the reverse pivot section. If you suffer from a reverse pivot. My recommendation is get the weight transfer and reverse pivot under control first. Then you can work on fine tuning the draw with more lead hand control in the Bonus Section - 9 Days to Amazing Ball Striking.

hi, since fixing my backswing by adding elevation and getting the backswing in line with elbow plane throughout the swing, i've now noticed that my downswing is slightly above my elbow plane-i am guessing this means i am steeper. I was perfectly on plane coming down before. still hitting it solidly but obviously this is a new fault. what do you recommend i do to fix this. thanks again.

Take a look at the LADD Video in the Downswing Section. It will help you shallow out the plane, but also square it up into a stacked lead side position.

Which video should I watch to stop flipping my hands? Should I be changing my grip?
August 25, 2014

Craig (Certified RST Instructor)
Hello Ji. You need to find the source of the flip. Could be grip, path, trail side push, etc.... First take a look at the Golf Grip how to Video in the Setup Section. The 5 Minutes to a Perfect Release in the Downswing Section will teach the proper release motion. However, if you can. Upload a swing to our review team. We would be happy to make sure there aren't any other culprits.

so if the head is not supposed to remain still, then how should it rotate during the backswing? the neck tie drill seems to work but i would like something more explicit (in how the head moves that is)

Craig (Certified RST Instructor)
Hello Michael. The head will remain fairly still going back. Clay is referring to most players tighten up and never let the head move which leads to a tilt. The 1 inch shift the trail side glute is why the head moves slightly.

is there any video on the site that addresses topping the golf ball? I have been fighting this miss with 3 wood and hybrid. Otherwise a very good ball striker with pretty good ball control.

Craig (Certified RST Instructor)
Hello Brandon. The top is usually a cause of hanging back on the trail side and coming up. Get the weight shift on the downswing correct. Work on getting stacked on the lead side.

What causes and how to stop from pulling the ball?
July 27, 2014
64x64
Craig (Certified RST Instructor)
Hey Michael. The pull is dictated by the face being shut and the path being slightly in-to-out. Make sure you are on plane coming down a releasing properly. Use the Stop Coming Over the Top Video in the Downswing Section to get on plane. Over the Top Stick Drill to exaggerate starting the ball to the right, not left of target in the Downswing Advanced Section. And the 5 minutes to a Perfect Release in the Downswing Section to master the release instead of a flip.

My game the other day I had a consistent shot shape of a straight slice or straight push. Are these shots generally linked to a common swing fault? Thanks.

Sounds like you are not releasing the club properly for the most part. We would need to see your swing though to make sure. Are you due for a swing review?

when do I fold the right arm in the backswing? should it be right away trying to have something in my mind to trigger when it should happen. thanks

The right arm will flex directly after the completed takeaway. Check out the backswing videos in in the program section in order and that will give you a good clear picture and possibly give you some indicators is to when this happens.
