do you perform the flute smash, pigeon stretch and the bridge sequentialy. like one right after the other or do you do one per day?

Hey Matt, good question. I would say stick with smash primarily for a good couple of weeks or until the smash becomes less painful before the elevated pigeon pose.A good indication that smash is effectively working is that pain level will go considerably down. After smash is tolerable then move on to elevated pigeon pose then bridge. Once the smash is tolerable then all three can be done sequentially.

Great to be able to do this. With a hip and knee replacement, these exercises could land me in hospital. Any other suggestions?

Hey Paul we are working on a series of exercises that are less invasive as well. A good deep tissue massage will also serve well to help with the adhesions and flexibility.

For persons with arthritis or joint replacements the the Smash and Pigeon Pose carry significant dangers including aggravation of pain or even dislocation of the prosthesis. I would strongly recommend professional advice for such people before doing these exercises. Perhaps some modified exercises could be recommended for those of us who are no longer so agile and elastic. Peter

Hey Peter, Before beginning any exercise regiment is always recommended to consult with your medical professional. Also always proceed with extra caution with exercises you do not feel comfortable with. We will work on developing a less invasive method for these particular exercises. Thank you for the feed back.

Does age affect the way to approach stretching? Are there any dangers of causing damage? What should we avoid?

Hey Frank,The approach is going to be the same regardless of age. Try to avoid stretching to the point of pain. The pain from static stretching should never exceed a 5 out of 10. Anything past a pain level of 5 is dangerous and also counterproductive. I would also would not recommend going from static stretches, such are the elevated pigeon pose to swinging a club.
