Bryan's Journey - The Tiger Tee Drill And An Easier Way
Bryan continues his journey through The GOAT Code with the Tiger Tee Drill and the help of a new training aid. Check out the training aid Bryan's using here!
all right rotary swing members time for the next update in the goat code journey as Craig said in the last review we were good to go to go ahead and start doing the one-handed tiger tee drill and as you can see in the images here before I hit the play button I'm actually using a training aid putting tees in the ground is great but if you don't set the tees in the right spot or aim it in the right spot you're going to get kind of mixed results another reason that I'm using this training aid is you can you can get the putter face through a couple tees no problem you can actually you know vary those a little bit face open face closed going through and still not hit the tees now this training aid that I'm using right here actually has a ball gate as well which is basically like if you were to stick two tees you know five six inches down toward the hole to make sure that the ball is starting on the on the correct line another reason why I really like this this training aid kind of here it has variable gates to it so you can kind of dial in as you get better not only with the putter head but also the ball so you can set these you know set these different gate levels shorter and shorter and shorter or narrower and narrower as you get better and you can kind of really groove it but the best thing I like about this on top of those is it has this little plastic track that goes through it so when you set this thing down you put the track on it like that and that basically is almost like a guide rail so to speak so when you lay that down you put a ball in there and you go ahead and you know hit it with your putter and it will give you the exact role you know that that you need to know so you know you're aligned correctly I think that's a massive massive thing that maybe a lot of people overlook or maybe they don't but I always like to know that when I'm practicing that I'm practicing you know exactly where the ball needs to start where the ball needs to go so I've been using this this training aid you know to kind of put the tiger drill on steroids if you will you can see in the video here you basically how that you know how that works you can see the two black knobs there in the front and on the back as the putter is going through it and it basically lets me know that one my putter head is getting through the back gate two the ball is starting correctly on line going through the front gate and I can basically adjust those as I get you know more confident and better with both strokes going back and through so it's kind of a variable tiger tee drill plus it just saves you time from having to continue to adjust where the tees are going make sure you're aligned correctly make sure the ball is actually starting on the right spot so I always like to practice smarter I guess you'd say when I'm practicing so that's why I'm using this and I love that thing it can be a little bit frustrating at first but it'll let you know immediately if you're on it or not so here we got a few strokes going through you can see how it's working putting pretty well one -handed here and then we're going to go ahead and send this in to Craig and let Craig give us his review hello Brian rotary swing tour instructor Craig Morrow here well as well today all right another trail arm only putting stroke but with the tee drill fantastic and there's a lot of good in today's stroke couple thoughts and I'm going to have you rep away because there's not really a whole bunch wrong with this I'm very pleased with everything that's going on when we look at the eyeline right here the eye lines just inside the ball right here we can see the stronger trail hand grip on this side one thing that does give me a little bit of cause for concern if we look at the elbow over here you can see that this elbow fits you know completely facing away and in that stronger position this one looks like it has a little bit of internal rotation to it just the tiniest bit just make sure you have the trail hand strong enough but let's make sure that that elbow doesn't start trying to sneak out a little bit where it starts to get a little bit internally rotated because we really want that in a position to kind of be directed by the core other than that the only thing that bothers me or gives me a thought of caution would be the first stroke from the face on now as you work on the tee drill and you work on these trail hand strokes as the putter swings you're going to naturally start to have a little bit more release in here where this putter head or excuse me the putter grip end you'll see starts to kind of swing up a little bit and what this is going to allow you to do is make sure that you're kind of hitting up on the ball so you can get the proper roll on the ball and not too much shaft lean hitting down on it which is going to change the spin too much i don't want you to do it manually this first one right here it almost looks like you start lifting the putter head almost forcing it to swing up instead of it just being a natural byproduct of release when we look at the rest of them if we look at this one right here you'll see you have the same thing where the grip end kind of starts going up a little bit right here because the putter's on the upswing but it doesn't look as dramatic i can visually see it doing that but it doesn't look like it's forced as much and even if i just kind of mark this right here i go back to your first stroke okay you can kind of see how that's a little bit higher so i don't want you to get into the mode of you know making sure that when you release the club like oh i've got to i've got to make sure that this thing goes up so i don't hit down on it too much it's just because of the natural swing and the release of the wrist right there now as we start to add the lead hand some feelings are going to really change but i want you to still have the feeling like you're hitting it with your right hand i just don't want you to force so much of the upswing it's a little bit more of a byproduct because the natural release as you go through it could be a little bit with your training aid down here to add the t drill well it's just something i want to warn you about it don't don't make it a manual move it should be just kind of nice and gradual like that one looks just a little bit more gradual through there uh but other than that i really like everything that's going on the head's staying down the eye position is really good i want you to check that elbow i want to make sure that you're not trying to kind of lift the putter up to force hitting up on the ball instead of down but overall really solid putter swinging back right here it looks like a nice natural released putting stroke there's a lot of good to it a lot of good to it so thanks for sending this my way let me check in on this you know one of my big pet peeves is making sure that when you're practicing you're practicing correctly no wasted reps i think you can go ahead and get your time in on this trail hand t drill i think everything looks really good with this putter strokes nice and balanced really making sure to hit that sweet spot it's looking good so let's move on get some reps in get this consistent and then we can start adding the lead hand back into the foray with your putting after you get your reps cool so you just saw the review there so a couple little things to you know to make adjustments to to work on um that again that's why i love these unlimited reviews you can turn one in for every little thing that you do i really don't know how people go through this program without you know getting reviews whether it's the unlimited or you pick up a swing package or a five pack here and there to get it through like i said you're doing the practice you're putting in the work you know let somebody else take a look at because those are a couple things that i just flat wouldn't have picked up on if he hadn't uh pointed them out so okay cool so again check out his training aid i know chuck's not big in the training aids i like them you know this saves just a lot of time though i mean you have you have the the you know you have the ramp that makes you know that lets you know you're aimed exactly right that the ball rolls true you have the gates that go through it's progressive so you can literally you know adjust it make it harder as you get better on both the putter head and the ball and then once you have it lined up you know correctly you pop this thing off and you know it's staked down with some tees so it doesn't move so fantastic putting aid no doubt about it so all right we'll get to work on that and i'll see you in the next video
