Bryan's first two handed putting review is the next step in his GOAT Code journey! Check out the training aid Bryan's using here!
All right, Roadie Swing members, here we go with the next step in the GOAT COAG journey.
In this one, this is the first review of the two-handed putting.
In the last video, Craig gave us the okay to go ahead and start getting in the reps with the one-handed Tiger T-drill.
As you can see, I'm still using this training aid I talked about in the last video.
Still love that thing.
It just makes sure that I've got the ball pointing in the right direction and all I need to focus on at that point is just the stroke, getting it through the ball gate as well as the club head gate.
It's made practice so much better than just a couple of tees.
So here we go with the two hands.
I've added the lead hand back on the putter and rolling some rocks here.
We're going to go ahead and get a few of these going.
And then we're going to turn it over to Craig and see what Craig has to say.
I can see, you know, a little bit right here to where it looks like that putter wants to go just a little bit to the outside as it's going back.
You kind of see there, you know, it's kind of going just a little bit to the outside.
So I'm pretty sure Craig's going to pick up on that.
And this is kind of one of the things, you know, that I was talking about with the actual tees.
Like even here, I still have the gates and you can see that it's just a hair outside of the path.
You can kind of see the center line on that training aid there.
And it's just a hair to the outside, but it's still getting through the gate.
So that just tells me that I need to make that gate a little bit harder and dial it back down one more number here.
So I'll be curious to see if Craig catches that.
I'm sure he will.
But let's go ahead and shoot that over to him and let's get the review going.
Hello, Brian Rudder, Swing Torn Searcher, Craig Morrow here.
Not much to say about these today.
Obviously felt a little different with both hands, understandably, but that didn't last but about 10 minutes.
Ball rolled the same, made seven out of eight on these from about 12 feet.
Nice.
Let's see what we have going on here.
Let's start with this down the line on the right-hand side.
So we've been swinging just a little bit on the out right there.
Eye lines looking good.
Just on the inside of the ball.
To me, it's just the consistency and the stroke.
I think there's a lot of good things going on.
I still think a little bit of the fatter grip hurts what I'm going to talk about here in a second, just when it comes to feel and the consistency of it.
This is the only thing that really bothers me.
You can see shoulders, hips, knees, feet, doing much better with getting your lines.
The only thing that bothers me a little bit is on the right-hand side of the screen, you'll see how the putter has a nice little swing to the back, and then it starts to kind of come down from the outside right here.
So if we kind of look at that strike right there, I mean, you can see, even if you just kind of take the measurements between both of your spikes right here, you'll see that as you make the strike right here, you see how the toe's closer to this marker versus that one?
And so it gives it just a little bit on the inside part of the sweet spot, more towards the heel.
And you can kind of see how it affects the roll on that one.
So to me, as the putter has the swing from it, you're using the trail side and you're letting the putter have the swing back and release, getting that core engaged.
This should be pretty consistent.
And the path, let's see, like that one gets just the tiniest bit in, which you're pulling back right there.
Just a little bit of lack of consistency in how the path is in the strike.
And then we got to the last one right here.
And you'll see right here.
You'll see that's why, for me, on the last one, you see how you returned it right back to that sweet spot.
So there are obviously different parameters in putting that matter more than the others.
Where we're hitting another sweet spot and how much the squareness of the face, or we're turning it back to square, plays a factor.
I just want the consistency of it.
And so as I was talking about that grip, that's one of the things that I've seen with the fatter grips or the thicker grips, is the consistency of the putter head having that little bit of swing back and forth.
This may just need a little bit of practice.
But my goal would be mimicking more of what you did on the third stroke here, where you get your pressure in your trail hand, you get the setup right here, the core is engaged, and it's just swinging back and through very consistently on that plane.
You can see that path that that's traveling right there.
So what I would do is, if you can, I would try to see if you can make this a tiniest bit tighter window.
But we need to get the tension level to where you're really controlling it with the core and trail hand, where this is consistent.
And I think sometimes that's why, you know, with the bigger grip, sometimes you'll start to try to grab it a little bit harder, or a little bit less.
I want that consistent right there.
You can see that gets a tiny bit to the outside and returns back even more to the outside right there.
I think that we need to use the t-drill.
We need to monitor our pressure.
And we really need to make sure that we're only really kind of controlling it with our trail side right there, because that's going to be where the pressure is kind of changing a little bit.
Other elements from your lead hand or the shoulder get involved.
I really want that consistent swing.
So a good way to do this, if you take off your lead hand and you make one or two strokes, just kind of back and forth through your little t-markers right there, just to get a nice consistent swing of it.
And get your lead hand back on and mimic that same feeling.
That should get that a little bit more consistent through there.
And as long as we start getting that path consistent, where I'm not seeing kind of outside heel, perfectly balanced, I want that to be a consistent stroke back and through there.
And I think that if you kind of alternate a little bit between both hands, taking the lead hand off and just getting used to feeling the putter head swing correctly, a couple reps we should be able to get that tightened up a little bit.
Because other than that, I think everything looks really good.
All right.
So there you have it.
I kind of figured he would pick up on, you know, the fact that a couple of those strokes kind of went to the outside.
Again, you know, that training aid just makes it so much easier.
It tells me that I need to dial the gate in a little bit tighter than what it was.
You know, with the T's, you know, unfortunately, if you hit one or you don't have it, you know, lined up properly or as close as it needs to be, you know, you're constantly messing with T's.
So, you know, that tells me there that, okay, I can dial that gate in a little bit tighter, which will, you know, let me know if I'm coming in from the outside or, you know, or in from the inside.
Because I'll basically smack one of those two, you know, one of those two gates there.
Also, I can dial the ball gate in a little bit.
Because if, you know, if I'm coming in from the outside and it's not hitting that sweet spot, that ball, you know, shouldn't roll through that gate.
So right now, you know, I've got it set to where I need to dial that gate in a little bit closer too.
So great, you know, overall, you know, not bad.
A couple of little things to work on.
And again, I mean, I can't stress enough, you know, how important these reviews are.
Because there's some things that I wouldn't have picked up on, you know, in that one.
They pick up on the outside path, you know, but maybe the fatter grip.
Well, I'm going to be honest.
I'm not changing my putter.
That's a lab putter.
And I love that putter.
So the grip's going to stay.
The putter's going to stay.
But it's something to think about, you know, to be focused on how much grip pressure I am putting on the club.
Is it consistent?
Is it tighter one time?
Is it lighter another time?
So, you know, it gives you something to think about and something to focus on.
So, all right.
So we'll get to work on that.
And I'm going to dial those gates in a little bit tighter.
And I've also got an idea of something else that's going to make it to where it has to be perfect or you'll know immediately.
So look for that in the next video and we'll see you in it.
