It is a real challenge for me to get my left hip 35 to 45 degrees open before or at impact. However I've never had my left foot open as much as Chuck does here. This would seem to aid in opening the left hip. Is his left foot the amount we should have our left foot open at address?

Hello William . Take a look at Should You Splay Your feet Video. If you have some limited internal hip mobility. You can splay as much as needed to get those hips open into impact. As long as you don't go so far you start to sacrifice proper weight shift.

Thanks, that makes sense. Does that mean Chuck needs to splay his left foot at address at the very beginning of the video as much as he does to open his hips as much as he wants them to be opened? He seems too young to have limited internal hip mobility.

Hello William. Chuck is half made of rebar and spare parts. He was told at a very young age he needed to have hip replacement from all the trail side pushing he did in his younger career/swing. He needs a little help

Rebar and spare parts; while not funny for Chuck I must admit this description cracked me up.

i have a question about my setup which is frustrating me-- i am bowl legged and i cannot get my lead knee over my foot (for neutral joint alignment to set stance width ) unless my knee and foot are both outside my hip joint. so what should i do? use that and go 2 inches wider front and back or just stay there and only widen two inches for the back leg stance instead of 4 inches?

Hello Kenneth. If you can't get the knees stacked at setup to measure out stance width due to the bow-legged issue. Drop a club down from the center of your hip socket and move each foot 2 inches outside the hanging club. You can use a club, alignment rod, etc. The more you practice it the stance width will become your new standard and you won't have to do that every time.

when practicing the drill Chuck talked about in the video, after I have posted up, if I simply let the club head guide itself and not push against the handle in anyway (or roll my left wrist) , I felt like the club head isn't travelling fast enough for make the ball go anywhere.

Hello Michael. The sequenced drill the ball shouldn't travel very far. The goal is to start gaining awareness of letting the release work independently of the body versus continuing to spin/push through impact.
