Struggling with feeling which muscles should be engaging during the takeaway and the top of the backswing? This exercise will teach you the proper muscles to use while toning your back.
- Tie Theraband to Door Knob
- Arms Straight With Elbow Up
- Retract the Shoulder Keeping Arm Straight
- Keep Pelvis Still and Stable
Becoming kinesthetically aware can help you with your golf swing.
So this next exercise is designed to help you feel the exact muscles you use in your backswing.
First, you have a TheraBand set up in the door jamb.
I tied it to actually the door handle there, whatever works best.
You're going to grab it with one hand, keeping the arm straight, elbow pointed up once again, and you're going to keep your arm straight just bringing your shoulder blade back.
As you see here in the video, it's not a full row as you may have seen before, but just half bringing the shoulder blade back.
On a side note, make sure you keep the pelvis still, the core strong, just moving back that shoulder in that half row.
Enjoy.
