Tiger said in his press conference on Tuesday at the 2015 Phoenix Open, that he is having a lot more fun now because his clubhead speed is back! In the new video, I'll show a great new look to Tigers backswing and I'll show you how it mirrors the RST model swing almost perfectly. We knew that if Tiger wanted his speed back that he must get into a much more vertical position at the top of his swing. This will hopefully save his body in the downswing and keep him healthy for the 2015 season.

  • Lower body stability
  • Hands and arms more into vertical position
  • More speed with less work

okay rotary spin golfers this is RST instructor Chris Tyler giving you a second look at Tiger's newly built golf swing and I got great news for you guys it looks like he's getting back into almost a full RST form of the swing I know in the the previous years when we were starting to look at his golf swing we started to see a little bit flatter and a little bit deeper of a position with his hands and his arms at the top of the swing and he openly spoke about his his speed coming back in his press conference yesterday and it's going to be attributed to a really good solid position at the top of his backswing so this is going to be our second look at his new move here and I've got a model swing over here on the right hand side of the screen so you can really see how it's very similar to what we're doing here at RST so I'm gonna go ahead and work Tiger into the takeaway here we're gonna look at some of the similarities there's a completed takeaway model swing wise this is of Chuck Quinton the founder of rotary swing okay so a couple of key points to take a look at if you look at where the club head is in line with the hands elevation point is pretty much spot on also notice lower body lower body looks very very stable at this point you can see that left leg starting to move just a fraction hips have rotated maybe five degrees or so the Tigers always had a ton of lower body stability and this is a really critical move for your golfers at home that have always noticed that you're seeing too much of your lead leg into the takeaway that's really going to show you that there's some pelvic instability so double check to make sure that you're loading up your trail side properly and then from this particular move right here you're gonna see he moves his hands and arms much more into the vertical plane over the right shoulder and gets into a beautiful spot okay this right elbow is much higher than what we've been accustomed to seeing you can see his hands are up above the right shoulder and from a model swing perspective you're gonna see the exact same kind of move here okay so you're gonna see a very similar position right elbow in line with the body using the base of the the pectoral muscle there to be the kind of the elevation point that we're looking for and the hands up above the right shoulder so a very very solid position to start to work down from this is a position that Tiger is not going to really have to spin his his lower body really hard to get out of the way and we were seeing that and then we were also noticing that he would have to steepen his shoulder plane post impact to help hold the hands and arms out in front of him so we're really pleased to see this we're really thinking that Tiger is gonna do some great damage with this golf swing and it's certainly exciting to see his speed come back as well so a couple of good videos for you guys to check out is five minutes to a perfect backswing that's a great video that's going to show you how to create the same sort of swing shape just like we're seeing from a model swing where you either look like Chuck or Tiger at the top of the move and we also have five minutes to a perfect backswing checkpoints video we also have a pool noodle shoulder elevation video that's going to talk to you about proper shoulder elevation and give you a couple of key checkpoints so I'm going to put those videos over to the right hand side of the video player for you guys and again I just wanted to give you guys another second look here at Tiger's new RST look we're excited to see it and now let's get out there and put the speed and the power back into your golf swings as well make it a great day

Are you sure Tiger is not working with Chuck? I watched Tiger's first tournament in over a year and right after his first swing said "that is what I'm trying to do". It looks exactly like RST

Hello Michael. He probably has seen one of our videos. But, no Tiger is working with another instructor that has adopted similar principles to RST.

Can you recommend a video which explains what I should be working on on the lower body to post up and release, rather than rotate? Thanks.

Hey David -- The straight left leg at impact, sitting into the left side, how the lower body works, squat to square video will all help expound on this situation. Let me know if that does not help and I will do what I can to get you more info.

I am curious that if Tiger has returned to an RST swing, why has he re-injured his back? Does the Tiger squat to square which we are working on, put undue stress on the lower back? Please help me understand this situation. Thanks.

Hey David -- Tiger is now moving the top of his swing into a more vertical position. He has still not sorted out what he is doing with the lower body down in the hitting area. If you watch him closely, he is still rotating his hips at impact, rather than posting up and releasing. While he is still rotating, he is trying to make his hands work left. This move is making his lower back compress. We certainly hope Como and Tiger get to work on that part of the swing next.

Hey Andrew -- It's hard to see him struggle around the greens so much right now. He has always had amazing short game. I think he is battling with his mind and a little case of the yips. I hope to see him get mentally tough on the sooner side and also hope that Como can get lower half stuff a little more tuned down in the hitting area. We shall see.
