- Play better golf
Hi, my name is Anthony Young, fitness instructor for RotarySwing.
com.
Today I'm going to show you the must-do lower body exercise if you want to increase your distance, boost your endurance, and play better golf.
More muscle means more strength.
More strength means more distance, more swing speed, a better launch angle, more spin, and lower scores.
But that strength isn't just from your arms, it needs to come from the ground all the way up.
That's why I'm introducing a lower body exercise that does everything.
And that exercise is the goblet squat.
Now the goblet squat builds a lot of great strength in your lower body, but it also increases your flexibility and mobility in the hips, which are tight for most golfers.
So you have this nice tightness throughout your body when you're doing a goblet squat, and you'll see the benefits when playing golf.
So, you start with a kettlebell or a dumbbell, doesn't matter, and you're going to hold it in the goblet position, which is by your chest with your elbows underneath, your shoulders pulled back nice and tight.
It's going to look like this.
Just like this.
Nice and tight.
That's the goblet position.
Now the squat, you're going to stand feet about shoulder width apart, toes slightly out.
Then you're going to sit back, open those knees out.
Go down.
