This KILLER training aid will help you master a smooth, one-piece takeaway and help you build tremendous lag into your golf swing!

hey guys Chuck Quinton here so the orange whip that we sell on the site has been one of my favorite training aids but from the feedback I've gotten from you guys you just can't stand the price for something you can't actually hit a ball with so I've searched high and low to find something that you can actually afford that is going to train you so many great things in your swing and so we found this the skills gold flex it basically does the exact same thing that an orange whip does for half the price so this is a no-brainer I want to show you a couple great ways to use this today that are going to make your swing so much smoother so much more powerful with so much less effort when you start feeling the way that I like to think of the golf swing which is more imagine swinging a rope with something on the end of it that you're hitting something with if with this shaft the way that it flexes is going to force you to stop snatching the club back stop casting the club all these great things I want to show you how to use it right now so let's take a look so the first thing I want to talk about is when people start snatching the club back when they do the takeaway when you do that with the skills gold flex and you pick the club up you're going to feel this thing start getting a lot of momentum and it's going to bend with this direction first and then it's going to snap back this way so it's going to make your swing feel really disjointed kind of like a Charles Barkley move during the takeaway what I want you to imagine that imagine you don't have to imagine too hard because this thing is super soft but imagine this was a rope you wouldn't try and snatch the rope back you would drag it back with your body now notice how calm and in line the ball stays with the butt of the club that's the goal and the takeaway is not to do some quick rash movement with your hands it's to be smooth and get some momentum built in the swing with your body rotation and your weight shift not snatching it back with your hands this is going to make you feel that immediately and that's what's so amazing about these types of trainers is because I don't need to tell you that this doesn't feel right when you pick the club up like this it's you're going to feel it instantly so turn back and let the club almost like you're dragging it back and imagine that the club is going to stay bent back this way during the takeaway instead of snatching it and having momentum snapping back on you so as you do this I want you to work on dragging the ball because it's got a lot of weight to it you're definitely going to feel this this mass is going to help you feel what it feels like to make a nice smooth takeaway so that's the first thing that you can use this for to instantly smooth out your takeaway in your backswing now the the big one I want you to focus on is what we do from there down if we can get the takeaway going off on the right foot it's a huge step in the right direction but the next piece is coming down so as I go to the top I want to feel now the club remember I'm dragging it back and trying to almost imagine that the ball is staying behind the butt of the club and as I go back to the top we're going to switch and the shaft is going to load in the other direction this is called a down cock when you do this and let your wrist set you don't want to go to the top feel tight go to the top drag it back see I'm still trying to keep it this is exaggerated of course but if you have a really hard you know bad time snatching it back with your wrist still dragging it back where the the butt of the club and still in front of the head and then as I go down that's when I want my wrist to really fully set now you can see as I do this and I shift my weight the shaft bends back and now I can feel the load and stress on the shaft all the way down into impact and that's what I'm trying to really release in the golf swing is the load on the shaft if I can keep this shaft stressed the whole time all the way down in impact it's going to unload at the bottom when I post up that's where effortless power comes from in your golf swing so if you put these two moves together dragging it back keeping the the head almost behind the butt of the club during the takeaway and then let it set at the top as you let your right arm and wrist actually bend back further during the downswing and then as you keep the shaft loaded all the way into impact then I want you to snap it at the bottom and release it and you're gonna have way more power with way less effort so please take a look at getting something like this to help you train your swing I think we have these on the site for about 60 bucks which is half the price of the orange whip so if you're wanting to have a smoother takeaway more lag and more effortless power in your golf swing pick up your gold flex today from from rotary swing comm

I received an email link from Chuck at Rotary Swing to the video "Widen the Angle". In it Chuck seems to be saying the exact opposite of what he's saying in this instructional video starting at the 3:35 point on what the wrists should be doing starting the downswing. Am I misunderstanding what he's saying or has Rotary Swing changed how they recommend we swing?

HI William, with my GOAT Theory study I have been focusing on what the greats did in their swing. While you can find tour players who increase the angle, the GOATs actually widened it and with 3D motion capture we now understand this. Before with just video, it was difficult to know what great ball strikers actually did in their swings.

Should the angle be widened by throwing the club head from the top with the left hand, the right hand or with both hands?

I cover this on the videos. Let me know if you still have questions after watching them again

I do wonder if there's a difference between "Widening the Angle" by throwing the club as stated in the video and casting the club? Finally are you currently teaching your students the GOAT theory or "widen the angle" approach? And if the former do you plan removing the latter video? Thanks for your answers.

Hi William, I would call them basically the same thing, except casting can get a pretty strong negative connotation. A real cast happens when your hands don't move fast enough to keep up with the club. As for this video, it's one that I imagine will get "whacked" a long with a bunch of others because yes, I'm teaching my in person students the GOAT Code because it's much, much, much simpler for them to learn, understand and get fast results with.

Hi Craig, There are currently two lengths that are sold. 48 and 40 inches. Is there a preferred length? It states the 48 inch is for people 5 ft 6 or taller, but 48 inches just seems extremely long. Hoping you had a recommendation on which way to go. Thanks!

Hello Matthew. I prefer the shorter one because of spacing and it matches more a normal club length. However, some players like the longer version because it allows them to really understand the radius and change in lag with the wrists. Personal preference.

I actually bought this before I found RST....but I'm wondering if the length is a huge factor. I got the longer one (I think its 40+ inches vs. 35ish). Would appreciate any feedback

Is there any point buying this if I am looking to buy the G Force club? They seem to teach the same principles, but you can hit balls with the G Force club can't you. Thank you

Hello Tom. Both are useful tools. You can exaggerate the lag a little more with the trainer above. But, as noted the G Force will allow you to hit balls with it.

Hi with this drill it looks like chuck is getting left wrist cup when he downcocks. Is this correct with the left wrist during the downcock or should we have a flat left wrist? Any guidance/videos would be very welcome! Thanks Ed

Hello Edward. Chuck's wrist isn't really cupping that much as it appears on camera. Ideally, you wouldn't increase cupping during the downswing unless you wanted ridiculous lag and/or had a really strong grip. The lead wrist will be flat as the trail wrist has some hinge/set. Take a look at Using Your Wrists in the Golf Swing Video to see what they will do back and down.

I've just got my Gold Flex. It seems to be helpful in getting my lower body to lead during the down swing. One thing is that the 48" length is so long that I end up standing with my upper body very straight up and down to avoid hitting the ground. Any suggestions?

Hello Ross. Are you referring to the Gold Flex, or the Orange Whip? The Gold Flex we sell is around 38.5 Inches long.

I noticed that Chuck's gold flex looked shorter than mine. The shop I bought my gold flex from had a longer version of around 48" and a shorter version of around 40". I bought the longer one. So do I swing it standing straighter up or do I use a sort of baseball swing from normal golf posture or something else?

Hello Ross. Slightly taller and a little further away. You can see in the "The Orange Whip Lag Drill Video" Chuck uses one that is the same length as your current gold flex.

Love the video and I just received my Gold Flex so I am anxious to do the drill. The one thing missing from the video though is putting it all together! It would be really helpful to show the entire swing with the Gold Flex and also again in slow motion.

What a coincidence! I watched your lag video recently, then went looking online for the Orange Whip. Instead, I found something for half the price...this yellow SKLZ Gold Flex device! I'm encouraged to find out that my instincts were correct. So I ordered the 48"er last Tuesday, and it should arrive this week. Can't wait to work with it. And maybe take my wife to dinner on the savings!
