Ready to take the final step to becoming the best ball striker in your group? Then pass this final checkout review when you nail these final checkpoints.
The mastery section is the graduating class. That's when you're starting to refine the top of your backswing so that you're able to produce the same swing over and over again with no compensations, there are two primary checkpoints from face on the first one is we want to make sure that that trail shoulder disappears behind your
Head at the top of the swing, and may even be visible,
At least your trail, shoulder blade behind your head. If you look like this at the top of your swing, and I can still see your trail shoulder on the right side of your head, if you're a right-handed golfer, that's no bueno. You haven't made a full turn. You've just picked the club up with your arms and shoulders. So full turn where that trail shoulder disappears
And then the lead arm needs to
Be pretty straight, not rigid straight, but definitely straight at the top. You don't want a lot of flection at the top so that those straight or you keep your trail arm,
The easier it is to keep your lead arm
Straight at the top. So if your trail shoulders disappeared and your lead arm is straight, then you're well on your way. Now let's take a look at the down the line checkpoints at the top of the swing. What we're going to be checking for is a few different things. One is that that trail elbow isn't flying way out, away from your body. We want to keep it pretty close to in line. So if you just make your little throwing motion and you swing back to the top, your arm is going to be pretty close to 90 degrees to your chest. Your bicep is going to be about 90 degrees to your chest. We just don't need a flying right elbow or flying left elbow, depending if you're left or right. It's just going to lead to all sorts of extra compensations you need to make in the downswing.
So keep your swing simple here, keep it in front of your body. Then I want to make sure that my lead wrist is flat at the top. If I've got a flat left wrist and a proper grip, then that's going to ensure that my third checkpoint, which is the club facing where the leading edge is going to be pretty well parallel to my forearm at the top. So if I held a club straight up like this and held my lead on parallel to the ground, this leading edge should also be parallel to the ground. And as I go to the top, those two should match. This is a square club face. The last thing that I need to check is that that club is on plane. It doesn't need to be laid off. Shouldn't be across the line. That's extra risk movement. So if I've got these checkpoints in, it's pretty hard for me to make a mistake from there.
I'm going to hit the ball really, really solid, really consistently. If I use the Axiom movement to bring the club down. Now let's take a look at the down the line checkpoints at this phase in your swing, you have really mastered so many key components that you should be playing unbelievably great golf, but there's a couple of simple things that may help glue it all together. The first one, and perhaps the most important is making sure that you have enough lag or leverage in your swing. And the only point we really care about that is when your hands begin to get back to in front of your thigh. As the back of my lead hand gets to the in line with my thigh, I want to make sure that club shaft is about parallel to the ground. If it's down here, I've cast it. If it's down here or if it's have a ton of lag in my lead harms here, I have so much lag.
It's going to be very hard for me to get rid of it in time without a lot of extra hand action. So your checkpoint, when your hands are close to align with the thigh, the pear, the club shafts be parallel to the ground club towed up. Now the last thing is just making sure you have good rhythm and tempo. If you're swinging off balance every time that's no bueno, the Axiom gives you the feeling to have good rhythm and tempo and the finish balanced every time. So we're really going to be keying in on that, on this checkout to make sure you have great rhythm and tempo and balance. If you nail these checkpoints, your golf swing is a thing of beauty. At this point, you should be hitting the ball perfectly more often than not. It should be hitting the ball very consistently because you have all the same key checkpoints as the best players in the world.
