How to post up properly for consistent golf shots and to protect your back and hip from injury.

all right the final key piece of the entire dead drill is the post-up move or step three and what this is going to show you is how to get your body to be in a stable powerful and safe position at impact so you remember during the transition drill we started to shift our weight back over to the lead leg we were squatting back to square with our hips while keeping our shoulders closed and now we're going to finish that weight shift by continuing to move our hip right over our left our lead foot and straightening that leg while turning the hip so you're going to do this move so we're coming from square with our hips now we've got to get our hips open and finish the weight transfer over to the lead side and a simple way to check this is with a club if you hold a club up here somewhere around your first belt loop the shaft should make a straight line through your knee and your ankle that's when you know you've shifted enough you don't want to go too far this can hurt your back and your hip and you also need to make sure you get all the way over there if you're short of getting all the way back into neutral you'll tend to hit the ball fat so make sure you shift all the way over and get your hips open from down the line you'll be able to see that I've turned my chest back to the target this is step one now we're going to do the transition step two squat to square and now I'm just going to finish shifting and turn my hips and from the down the line you'll be able to see my my left cheek over here but my shoulders are still square this is showing that I didn't try and use my shoulders to hit the ball I'm using my legs and my core my big muscles and so if your shoulders are open like this you know that you tried to use your shoulders it's going to make you more inconsistent going to put you at risk for injury and also cost you power so keep your chest back squat to square post up notice that my right foot is still on the ground you don't want your heel up in the air like this that'll change the angles in your swing as well so once we get our hips nice and open our shoulders are square it's the entire golf swing those are the three most important moves of the entire golf swing if you can do those three moves you've got the whole thing licked all we have to do now is stack in the left arm lead arm club and trail arm and you've got the whole golf swing nailed
