Hey what's up everyone I'm RST instructor Chris Tyler and we have a special guest this week Nicholas who is all the way in from Mauritius which is an island in the Indian Ocean so he's traveled quite a quite a way here to be with us this week and Nicholas came to us with a couple of issues in his golf swing that were number one affecting his overall consistency in the hitting area and also his impact was actually lacking a little bit of speed so why don't we show them at home what the area or the issue is that we struggled with first and so he's left-handed so if you've seen that your golf swing is a little bit on the hung backside here so you can see that at impact we didn't have that nice stacked up lead side so we this is in turn what this is going to cause is it's going to cause the bottom of the swing arc to shift all over the place which is going to make it very hard for you to strike the golf ball solidly we want the bottom of the arc to remain constant so what we had to do first was is we had to work through a video called impact alignments face on and I actually helped him kind of preset himself into a really good impact position that was nice and stacked up most of his weight into his lead side hips open maybe 30 to 40 degrees or so on the shoulder line nice and square and so once we use that we used a mirror got his brain really sharp on it then we started to work on how to sit properly into his lead side and that was a good video or a good series of drills that got him some really good progress and in turn you know in just a few short days he was able to get this impact position that was absolutely phenomenal and he was able to control the bottom of the swing arc with much more consistency so if you've been struggling with getting your swing arc or the bottom of your arc in the same spot and you're getting that kind of that hung back appearance then work through those videos check out impact alignments face on also check out sitting into the left side both fantastic videos they're going to teach you how to unload properly and you'll be able to move a little bit more dynamically and not get so hung back so the second issue is is that now we got to put some speed to it so once we go ahead and turn down the line here and show them where a lot of our speed loss was coming from so this is his impact position here where you can see that his trail thigh here has moved into his hands see how his right heels up off the ground and his hips have moved forward now what this is causing is it's causing his radius to start to become very very short okay we want our radius to be as long as possible so that club is really cooking so what we did to fix this now was is that we had to after we taught him how to get down into the bottom get properly seated into his lead side was we had to understand how we were going to use this foot as a break okay and we have a video called the roll of the right foot you'll hear us talk about that quite a bit but what you can notice now is when he gets down into the hitting area where his hips a little bit more open here you can see that we've increased the radius which is really really critical for speed so if you've been battling with some impact issues or you've been battling with some speed loss then i encourage you to have a game plan and a good game plan for us was number one we had to get into impact we had to understand where we wanted to go first and then we had to understand how we were going to work into that lead side and we worked through sitting into the sitting in the left side video and then we use the roll of the right foot and the tush line video so if you've been struggling with either one of those areas then i encourage you to take a look at those under the recommended videos tab they'll certainly help you out during the process here and hopefully you'll get some good compression and some good speed just like nicholas so thanks to nicholas for coming out this week and good luck with your games let's make it a great day
